oil light came on after long drives. think the oil was thin. new oil and filter yet still coming on while running idle .

Yes unfortunately sounds like low oil pressure. Best to put a gauge on where the switch screws in to the engine. You need around 2 bar (25-30PSI).
If your on a budget you could try an oil additive like STP oil treatment. Liquid oil pressure.
Don't leave her ticking over with the light on, cause serious harm to the engine.

theses models of transits are prone to have a problem with the oil pressure sensor faulty reading by the sensor bringing the light on in the dash ! i'd change the sensor !!
