Can't help with a source for the galvanised steel strapping, but the old fashioned way was to make a pallet base, then make up the sides and top with something like 2 x 2 or 2 x 1-1/2in softwood framing on the face around the perimeter of each panel. Both strengthens the corners and gives you something to fix the cases together with
 
Thanks, need to make them both light as possible and strong .Might use thicker ply for sides and thin ply for base and top.
