I've got a 160x80cm stone resin shower pan and a solid Marine ply based its going over. Is treating it as a large tile and putting uncoupling membrane between ply and the pan good or bad? I'm going to use flexible tile adhesive so would the added membrane be overkill/unnecessary?
The showerpan's manual is kinda vague(tray from B&Q) and doesn't state that bed of mortar/tile adhesive/silicone etc. has to be used if installing on an even surface. But I'm kinda skeptical since the manual says the legs that come with ir are completely ok but I tested them a couple of times and they didn't really convince me(hence why I made my own frame of 2x4's and 18mm ply. So because of that I'm not convinced that just resting the tray as it is will be sufficient.
I'm also not worried about voiding warranty by using tile adhesive on the tray.
