The house I bought had the cooker installed with lighting wire.

There was an electric shower which I removed and replaced with mixer taps controlled by the boiler.

Am I ok using the shower wire and feeding it into the kitchen for a circuit for a freestanding oven I want to install.
Or will I have to get a new circuit from the consumer unit running to the kitchen and completely remove the one which was powering the shower?

One can use existing cable for a new use, but as to what needs to be reported to local authority is less cut and dried, you need to read the law in your area and make up your own mind. England and Wales it is called Part P, I would think in Wales you would need to inform the LABC so cheaper to get a scheme member to do the work, not sure in England.
