Hi,
Is there any reason why people don't use normal phones ? Obviously entry handset have key button but could you not fashion a normal phone to work in a similar way?
(might be really thick question )

normal phones have totally different wiring and work on different voltages. The circuitry in a standard phone could NOT be used in an entry system.
