Valleys

How can an ordinary home owner tell if the valleys on the roof have been properly done? What would we look for?

i suppose the only real way is to get up there and physically have a look.
About a year ago we had our valleys re done with lead (origonally done in zinc) but i do not know what you allowed to use in the U.S.A

If we look under the tiles it is possible to see that the lead actually does go under the tiles
