We have a 16 year old house, very standard modern home with chipboard flooring. The floors upstairs creak and crack dreadfully, so I thought the answer might be to screw the flooring to the joists.

So, my questions are:
1) Will this work ok?
2) How do I locate where the joists are?

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated

Cheers

1) Yes it should do - assuming you use enough screws.
2) See where the flooring is nailed and add screws there.

Be careful of pipes and wires!
