video card readers

got a new game for xmas and it keeps saying " your video card reader needs updating "............

I have a ati radeon 9800 series, any ideas would be very appreciated

p.s. - I can hearsound but no picture when I load it up

The video ard may not be quick enough to support the game , what game ?

Go start/control panel/system/hardware/device manager/open up display adaptors.
Right click your display card, and follow prompts to update your driver.

This presumes you have windows xp or lower.

If this fails to help, I would suspect you need a higher spec video card.

its farcry 2, I had to ring their technical support department and he said I need a new graphics card, so I bought a higher spec one.

Got Farcry 2 on PS3, played it for a couple of hours and stuck it on Ebay - it's a terrible game. Hope it's better on PC for ya... but I would suspect not.
