VW Beetle

My good Lady Wife has taken a liking to the vw beetle, she has gone off the little Micra I bought her a few months ago. Only grey area for me is the Auto box fitted to the beetle, she can only drive an Auto. I assume they will have the SMG box fitted, if so does anyone have any comments or experience of them? Reliable/unreliable?

Reliability wise the DSG system has got to be up there with the best - although if they do go wrong then the pockets need to be deep!
Low mileage is recommended and even if the transmission is 'filled for life' have it changed early - its the best shot you have.
Always avoid French automatics!
The best system I've come across has been in the Honda Jazz as it happens.
Do go for a warranty when you buy, Phil.
