Hi,

We're hoping to put in 2 wall hung WCs in our renovation, but need some help/advice? Can they be hung, via some sort of bracket, on a strong, custom built stud wall? The reason for this is the concealed cistern - the set up of the bathroom I had in mind would be:

1. external wall
2. cistern hung on external wall
3. stud wall to conceal cistern
4. wall hung WC, affixed to the stud wall.

We've looked at Ideal-Standard range, and their wall-hung wcs are not really 'wall-hung' - the wc seems to be attached to brackets which are fixed to the floor. They tell us the brackets can only be fixed to a solid concrete floor, to provide enough support, but both our bathrooms are suspended timber floors, so this is a non-runner. Anyone know of any other brands which can be fixed to a stud, or any other way of solving the problem? They suggested a 'Geberit' frame, which would itself be fixed to the external wall and support the WC, but given that this alone costs €460/£300 it's not a road I want to go down.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Henrik

Used to have one in a previous house. The pan was designed to sit on a couple of 2" angle sections that ran horizontally under the rim of the pan. These then were welded to uprights which ran down the wall, where they were fixed with rawl bolts, and under the floorboards where they turned horizontal again, projecting about 2 feet, and were bolted to the floor joists. It all looked home made, but it certainly wasn't going to move anywhere!

Scrapped the thing soon after moving in because the suite was bright ORANGE

A local metal fabrication shop may be able to make up a similar arrangement for a very reasonable cost.
