Wall Lining Used on 'The Block'

I happened to glance at the TV when this awful programme was on and saw a wall lining system (looked like large off white tiles but not ceramic) being used in one of the houses - Maronella?? it looked ike a good product for DIY'ers to use in place of plastering. I wondered about using it in a room in my house, but cannot find any reference to the product anywhere. Does anyone have any information on such a product ?

It was on ITV and called 'The Block' - set in Brighton, 4 couples each doing up a house
