washing machine gremlins

having problems with a washing machine, a Tricity Bendix Eco 5. It starts a programme with two or three short bursts of spin?? then the manually set programmer moves on to end of cycle in a very short time, about 25+secs.
obviously, main motor and belt ok, and i have checked water-level tubes.any suggestions?
 
on the back of the motor is a circular tacho device.this may have either fell off or the magnet underneath it may have broke/unscrewed.
give it a go :|
