Washing maching stopping mid program

Hi

We have a Creda IW160D integrated washer/dryer which stops during the program until the timer is nudged on a little, anyone know the most likely cause.
I think the missus is using program 9 and it seems to stop at the same point each time, but not always sometimes it works perfectly.

Is it waiting for the heater to heat up? Can you connect a multimeter to terminals of heater- with machine switched off and isolated. If heater is not working water will not heat up ,therefore thermostat will not switch on to advance program.

if it is the heater there is an easier way to find out check it, see the sticky at the top of this forum
