Anyone had any experience of the "Mini Rester" on the Toolstation website (code 85345 )which is meant to stop water hammer? If so did it work and where did you fit it??
We've got hammer which we think is caused by a toilet which was not converted from low to high pressure when the plumbing was changed to a pressurised sytem. Unfortunately the loo in question is one that encloses all the pipework and has then been sealed all round to the the tiles so getting out to change the inards of the cistern could be a major job!!

Find the pipe that is leading to the enclosed space and put a flow restrictor on it.

Unfortunately the feed for the loo is off of a 22mm pipe under a tiled floor that also supplies a wash basin and a shower so a flow reducer would have to be fitted to the 22mm pipe and would affect all three.

was the cold water to toilet actually changed from tank to mains ?

James, yes.....no cold tank, system now has a Mega-flo so everthing at mains pressure.
Noise normally occurs when loo is flushed ,but can be reduced by turning on the wash basin cold tap while loo is re-filling.

Yes i've used one successfully to get rid of water hammering caused by a dishwasher

Mega flow won`t make any difference to your toilet, most toilets are mains fed anyway, unless it`s an antique, probably poor pipe support.

welsford46 out of interest where abouts did you fit the device, was it close to the dishwasher?

bamber gp I think after further investigation you may be right, it seems that it doesn't matter which tap is turned on to lessen the noise (can be hot or cold) and I assume that the noise is caused when the loo is flushed because a valve is going from closed to fully open very quickly.
