Our 216 has sprung a leak on the metal pipe that joins the water pump to the thermostat housing. It has corroded and now has holes in it!!--not a good idea!
Can anyone tell me if i can fix it myself ,assuming i can get the pipe and O rings?without removing the manifold etc?? :(

Is the pipe you're talking about the one that runs back of the engine, under the inlet manifold, has regular flexi pipe on one end and the other end is the thermostat housing?
If so, you'll likely have a bitch of a time getting the bolts off that bolt it to the engine. Its a sod of a job, but it can be done. Just make sure nothing happens to the seals in the stat housing. ie, pinching them. Nothing worse than putting it all back together and finding out its leaking.
You should still be able to get the parts from rover suppliers.

thanks for the reply--i bottled out of the job in the end due to pressure of wifey!!
I got the parts from our rover dealer and had them fitted by a local garage.parts were £20 and fitting £60.
Not too bad for peace of mind and getting the car back quickly. :D
