Hi,

I'm looking for a whole house water softener, ( the salt in a box version :) )
There seems to be so many on the market, could anyone recommend some good brands that I should be looking at ?

Many Thanks,

Marvin

Thanks bathjobby,

I had a search and found plenty of threads, didn't come across this one to be honest.
Thats perfect though, many thanks for your help.

Marvin.

Further reading of that thread suggests that it may cause my combi's heat exchanger a problem. How do I know if it will ?

Cheers,

Marvin

Only on the primary heat exchanger as stated in the post. You do not want softened water going into your rads or the heat exchanger on a combi if it is aluminium

Ok I understand, thanks for clearing that up.

I would recommend the kinetico 2020c as one of the best on the market, thats just my opinion. I have installed several of these lately and have had no negative feedback. Its non electric, simple to use, compact and also quite elegant to the eye. Another one doing rather well at the moment is the twin tec....

Here are a few websites for further information....
first is a company we use frequently and have good offers on the 2020c:
http://www.softwatershop.co.uk/ (when calling, ask for Rod Stone)

www.twintec.biz (good offer on the twintec)
http://www.aqua-nouveau.co.uk (suppliers of kinetico products)

I havn't much experience on the electric units out there, but can say the above products will not let you down..
