hello...

I have a conventional system... with a cold water cistern in the loft and a hot water cylinder in the airing cuboard... i wanted to know of anyways to increase the pressure to my taps... how does the flow rate effect this?.. i know there are pumps available for showers, can these pumps be used for supplying the taps also for both hot and cold water... would it be an idea to change the taps to the bath and basin for this type of system...

thanks all..

It all depends - what's the existing flow rate to your taps?

You can normally increase the flow rate with a shower pump. Note that some only have a 20 min rating though.

If you have newish cheap Italian taps then they are probably designed for high pressure supplies.

Typical flow is basin tap 5-6 li/m, bath 10-20 li/min.

Remember the pump makes a noise and that may not be good if someone gets up in the middle of the night to go to the loo.

Stuart Turner make a range of pumps with a design for constant running. Is the cold to the taps mains or low pressure. If u require to boost both the range is Monsoon. Longlasting brass immpellors which are the quietest iv heard. If u only need to bootst the hot they make single models as well.
