Hi. I am ready to line my bathroom and ensuite walls with moisture-board, which will then be skimmed and ready to tile. However somebody told me that it may be easier to line the walls with 12mm WBP plywood and then forget about plasterboard and skim which would certainly be simpler and a lot quicker.
Can anyone advise me? I will be tiling the walls from floor to ceiling.
Thanks

You don't need to skim plasterboard if you're tiling it - it's better if you don't. :D
Tank the plasterboard around the bath/shower areas though.

thanks for your reply. so you dont think i ill need to use wbp ply? is wbp ply better than moisture board?

ooh and sorry, how will i tank it? is there a simple product to use?

Plasterboard is much cheaper and is not subject to movement (expansion) with moisture like ply - therefore plasterboard is a better substrate on which to tile.
Tanking is basically a waterproof paint like substance that is applied to plasterboard to make it waterproof for shower areas. Bal and Dunlop do a tanking kit. http://www.trades-direct.co.uk/modules/shop/view.asp?Prodcode=9005-101
Have a read of the sticky at the top of the tiling section.

Just to say I would always recommend tanking a bathroom / shower as it costs just £45 for a complete kit and solves lots of potential problems that may have arisen without it.
