How do I secure preformed weather striping in the precut/sawn slots my entrance door surrounds, sides and top?

I push the molding strip into the slots but as soon as I release it the weather strip falls out. It looks like it should work but doesn't.

Help. It's getting cold.

have you not tried sticking them in say with caulk or mastic?

what do the instructions say?

No, I haven't tried using either caulking or mastic. Both sound like good ideas. I was thinking of either using some type of glue or nailing the strips in. I will try the mastic first. Thank you.
