weird bits of metal

Hi

I'm trying to bolt a spring over gate, and I know I need M4x40mm bolts, but what I also need is some metal plates on the other side that I can fix the bolts to. Anyone got an idea what they're called (so I can look them up on Screwfix) or where I can get them from?

It would basically be like a hinge with only one piece of metal - not two.

It is like a plate. Or a bracket. I've seen them before, sort of curved to go around a pipe but I really can't think what they're called...
