Wetting hardboard for under under new carpet. How wet?

Hey.

Going to be laying new carpet over floorboards upstairs soon. Big gaps/nicks in boards so i'll be laying hardboard (or ply??) over the boards first.

I know the hardboard needs wetting before it goes down to prevent warping at a later date, but how wet are we talking? Damp sponge over? Garden hose? Overnight in the bath? Wrapped round a fat bloke in a sauna?

After searching for the second time on here, I found the thread I was looking for prior to posting this thread.

Remembered something about wetting the HB but wasn't sure how much. :oops:
