Hi,
I have been told that this pipe is a 'thats a standard outside hose pushfit connection' and in order to make it work I need to ' - connect up a hose, turn the brass tap and the white one on'.

1: I wanted to know whether if the above is right and which brass tap should I turn on and which one looks like to be on already?
2: Should I turn the brass tap on the blue pipe and in what direction (clockwise or anti clockwise), the only reason I am asking this is because both brass taps are very stiff.

Please let me know what your suggestions are, thank you.

the whole thing is a horrible bodge perpetrated by someone who has no idea of proper plumbing.

the blue hose is in fact a filling hose for an appliance such as a washing machine or dishwasher. Somebody has fitted a tap to it. Turning on the brass tap anticlockwise will probably make water come out. If you want to connect a garden hose, you can use a Hozelock or similar connector. It will probably leak. Brass connectors are available and leak less than plastic ones.

The rest of the pipes are horrible.

How do I go on about replacing all the pipes, what will be the end cost. I have a vaillant boilder, would I also need to replace that too?

I have tried to run the brass tap again and again, however, both of the brass taps seem impossible to turn.

ask around for recommendations for a good local plumber.

update: I turned the brass tap (on the blue pipe) and the white cap anti clockwise and nothing came out. What should I try now? Any suggestions

Unbelievable, this one.....see the chrome isolator valve? It will have a screwdriver slot in it - horizontal for off and vertical for on.
Does this supply that crazy brass tap with the white top? Certainly I don't recognise that one!
John :)

I have no idea what to do here. Should I get a screw driver and find an isolator valve near the blue pipe and turn the valve thing to vertical.

I'm talking about the right hand isolator, thats half hidden behind that crazy tap, not the one on the left half hidden by the blue pipe......whats the slot set at now?
If its horizontal, whatever its controlling is off.....by all means give it a little turn, if your happy about turning it back again.....use a nice broad blade screwdriver if you do.
John :)

my best guess is that you are talking about this:

that screw thing is turned vertical and both white tap and the brass tap are turned anticlockwise.

Since, the isolating valve slot is set to vertical, it should allow the water to flow, but it isn't.

Someone just told me this, could this be an explanation as to why the water isn't coming out
'If you've turned both taps on ( anti clock ) as previously said, then that brass looking thing with the white top might not be' cut in', Its a self cutting valve that pierces the cold main and seals itself round the edges of the cutter with a rubber seal. '

How about the lower brass stop cock, to the right.....is that turned on?
Anticlockwise?
John :)

I have tried turning that one to both clockwise and anti clockwise direction, however, its literally impossible for me to turn it. I can tell the water is flowing through the pipe, hope that helps.

If you can feel water flowing through that pipe, then that stopcock will be fully on - in which case turning it clockwise should cause it to move.
It looks like that ghastly self cutting tap has self sealed, I think!
John :)

I still think that if you can find a competent, well-recommended local plumber, he could tidy that lot up better and faster than you will be able to. All the plastic needs to come off, and some neat copper pipework and brass valves fitted, all fixed to the wall.

You could easily learn enough plumbing to do it yourself, but it will take you a while to gain the experiece to do a neat and skilful job that doesn't leak.
