Well , as it is copyright infringement and therefore illegal , it would probably best to ask your Dad to buy them from Itunes or a similiar company.

hi, you can use a program called frostwire to download music.
http://www.frostwire.com/

however, it uses a programming language called java, so it's important you have the latest version of java before you install it. you can get that here -
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

get the Windows (Offline Installation) version if you use windows.

it's perfectly legal to download music using frostwire. however, it's illegal to let people download music from your computer.

P2P (File Sharing) is copywrite infringment if the original was protected.
P2P is legal in a few countries.

The pirate bay has 'torrents' you can download, once downloaded they end up as an MP3 or AVI file, idela for what your dad is after.
You'll also need to download Bitspirit or a similar download manager to actually download them, this is a popular one.

Beware there is a lot of copywrited stuff on there so you have to be careful to stay legal, there is also a fair amount of adult material too so be careful when kids are about.

Just out of intrest, what is it you are after downloading? if its free materail then its usually widely available from various websites, copyrighted stuff on the otherhand usually means resorting to p2p type programs. doesnt the name "thepiratebay" make bells start ringing?
Whilst I agree that much software, music and films are overprices, it doesnt give you the right to steal your copy, you wouldnt go into HMV for example and stick a cd up your jacket and walk out with it - downloading copyrighted music or other material is doing just that and yes you can go to jail for it.
