Hi,
My car has a security system, called '1wire' It works by not allowing the ignition switch to work unless a 'thing' is heled up to a touch connecter first.

Does anyone know what the system looks like or how to remove it.

Here is a picture, of a likely box, Is this it?

Cheers, Camerart.

By the fact it's been cable ties in, yes that would be the likely suspect.

Sounds like something I had to get fitted to insure my old golf GTi. I presumed it was in between ignition, fuel pump, starter etc. I got fed up with it after a while (and they stopped nicking as many cars) so I taped the fob to the sensor and stuffed it behind the dash.

Hi,
Ok, I'll probably try to remove it, let's hope I can still start the car.
Golf GTI 1, needs security again.

Yes. Mine was a MK2, I think I sold it it for about £300 to buy a fiesta - we live and learn!

I had a similar device (Cat2 aftermarket immobiliser) fitted to my old classic as there was no factory security system. Works by holding a little fob close to the ignition lock ... why would you want to remove it?
