Manufacturing wages in China are now 20% of manufacturing wages in the US, and manufacturing wages in India are 3% of US wages

Even with 50% tariffs, it will still be cheaper to get it made abroad
America depends on a lot of electronic components from China , if he tariffs or China decides to restrict them , it will cause a lot of problems for domestic manufacturing in America.

"Robert F Kennedy Jr is a man best known for his years of tireless work undermining public confidence in vaccines, and repeating long-debunked claims about their health risks. The likelihood that he will take charge of all US healthcare policy is a bracing prospect. Until an arsonist is put in charge of a fire department, it will be hard to find a more fitting symbol of our age. "

Trumps policies

“I’m gonna build a wall and Mexico will pay for it” (Americans paid)
“I’m gonna put up tariffs and China will pay for it” (Americans will pay)

Fool me once……

He also wants to ban some food colourings like Red 40 and Yellow 5. These are legal in Europe, but any manufacturers in the EU using them has to place a warning label on the food advising it may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

Given the number of chemicals not banned in USA that’s a joke….The nutter Kennedy has a lot of other safety issues to worry about.

You are only making an issue of Tartrazine E102 and Allura red E129 because they were banned following Brexit

Although I’m pleased to say Brominated vegetable oil was finally banned in USA in July

Trump mentioned various tariff levels when campaigning. He intends to apply 10% to anything from China now. The other 2 at 25%, appear to be a blackmail attempt to get Mexico and Canada to police their own boarders. ;) SEP not his.

Biden has placed tariffs on EV related stuff. Rather low levels on some materials as China appears to have tied them up so they need find alternate sources.

EU tariffs on EV's? The EU makers aren't happy as they sell into China and expect retaliation that might end these sales.

The UK seems to have weakened the time scales to all EV's
The zero emission vehicle ( ZEV ) mandate sets out the percentage of new zero emission cars and vans manufacturers will be required to produce each year up to 2030. 80% of new cars and 70% of new vans sold in Great Britain will now be zero emission by 2030, increasing to 100% by 2035.3
There has been talk of 100% by 2030 but the above still seems to hold.

Trumps unelected sidekick Elon Musk is threatening to summon British MPs to America to explain themselves.
