window wiper squirty things

ive got an l reg transit and the things that squirts the water on the screen doesnt work ive checked theres water in it, ive blown down the pipe and its not blocked theres a couple of wires connected to the water container and one was corroded could this be the problem ive also checked the fuses any help would be great :)

Yes the corroded wire will probably be the problem. Most have a male/female plastic plug and socket near the motor. They have a habit of corroding inside and are dificult to clean. If the plug/socket is part of the loom and is corroded you can often cut the plug out and scotch or tape the wires together.

GRC - Get an assistant to be under the bonnet while you operate the windscreen washers.

He/she should listen for the electric pump operating when you operate the switch. If no electric noise, then there's no power getting to the pump (switch has failed, wiring has failed) or the pump has failed. If you have a test meter / multimeter then you could check if there's any voltage at the pump leads when the switch is operated

If there is noise, then the pump is spinning, but there could either be mechanical failure in the pump (impeller broken?) or blockage in the pipes.

just put the wires back together today and buzzin it works nice one, im a mechanic "not".
