Wiring a junctions box / lights switch / light fitting

I don't usually touch mains electricity, but does this seem like a sane wiring arrangement?


Given a four way junction box with terminals A, B, C and D

A is live
B is earth
C is neutral
D is spare

Given 4 cables: N, S, E and W

N is from ceiling, 3 core, connects blue->A, black->C, earth->B
W is to another room, 3 core, connects blue->A, black->C, earth->B
E is to light fitting, 3 core, connects blue->A, black->D, earth->B
S is to switch, 4 core, connects white->A, brown->D, grey->C, earth->B

There's a light switch with 3 poles, I have no idea (yet) of the configuration but:

grey -> 1
brown -> 2
white -> 3

and a cable connected from south of the switch that leads to a power socket:

blue -> 3
black -> 1
earth joined to that going to junction box.

Please forgive my ignorance is the relevant technical terms.

from the junction box description it sounds like

A-neutral
B-earth
C-permanent live
D-Switched live

how many terminals are there on the light switch, the arrangement would be sane if the white/blue wires at the switch were just joined to each other and not to the switch mechanism itslelf (or were sitting in one of the terminals of the unused pole of a double pole switch).

An excellent question. Wires are connected at three points. I'm guessing the live wire branches off at the top of the switch to then go and feed the power socket. The other side of the switch returns to "switched live" and the neutrals join up to route back to "C".

It's starting to make some sense...
