Please help me! I have wired several pendant lights before where there are three cables coming from the ceiling.

I have just removed an old fitting to see that there are only two cables. I can't find a diagram anywhere as to how to handle this. Please can someone advise me how to fit these two cables into the ceiling rose (which has a standard switch connection box in it).

Thanks in antcipation.

Tim.

one is the switch wire, one is the live feed. you normally have 2 live feeds. surely you can work it out.

Thanks for this. How do I establish which is the switch cable please - the wires are identical?

Thanks

Assuming you did not note where the cables went before removing old fitting you will need to use a multimeter or a continuity tester with the power off at main switch on consumer unit.

You then connect meter/tester accross each pair of wires in turn with the light switch in the on position.
