Sometimes there is an odour on glasses more noticeable as they are under the nose !
On occasions there is an odour from inside the unit. All the functions seem ok. Opened the door several times to see if water is getting sloshed around. We are is a fairly soft water area and do not use salt. Why use salt?
Ideas appreciated Flounder

Salt is used to flush out regeneration unit in base of machine at end of wash.Generally speaking soft water areas do not need salt-can lead to marking of glasses(called etching).Odour:clean filters, check drain water not running back from sink, put machine on hottest wash once a month using detergent but empty of dishes etc(called a maintenance wash).Best of luck.

Thank you nigeld.
The odour on say glasses is very faint but there. Otherwise the dishes could be regarded as clean, or not noticibly dirty.
Tonight we have loaded some salt in.
Can't understand that if there is an effective rince cycle why. sometimes, this faint smell. Will try your sugerstion of the hot purge latter. Thanks.

Regards Flounder

It could also be that the machine is overdosing with rinse aid - a residue will then get left on the items . Try reducing the doseage setting to see if that sorts the problem.
