This is a well made piece of gear BUT it is a little too much for a Dremel tool. The reason I say this is most of us use a Dremel or Moto tool for small / precise work, and this particular base is large enough to use w/ most 1/4" routers. I am NOT saying this base will adapt to 1/4" routers but I am saying that it is as large as most router bases. There are smaller / more compact Dremel bases available but they are 4-5 times the cost so be aware of the project(s) that you have in mind, and if you are working on VERY small, and precise pieces... you may want to look around for th smaller bases. Without measuring the base I have is about 6"x4". The springs are sturdy, and the clamp is positive. The smooth working base is suitable for the purpose, and I do believe that this accessory will last as long (or longer) than most Dremel "moto" tools so take that as a plus. I will be buying the smaller sized base available from Stew Mac BUT I am happy to have this base as another tool in the box. I give it a 5 star for what it is.Read full review

Its made of too much plastic. The height adjustment rod should be metal at the very least. Also, only one side locks down the height adjustment. The other side then is allowed to move slightly if you hold on with both hands as instructed. This is better than having nothing so long as you're working a small area. You can't get more than a few inches away from any straight edge of your project. So if you're trying to work the center area of a a 1 x 12 x 24 you can only reach the short sides. This means you're free handing all your other straight edges too far from the edge for the guide to slide on. And as for making circles you are extremely limited. If you're thinking small you may like it. I didn't and wouldn't buy it again. I need something a little more substantial and sadly there doesn't seem to be much until you move up into a standard router - but that's overkill for small or medium projects. Uhg...Read full review

Awesome jig for a Dremel or like tool to be able to route slots adequately. It is of adequate value and allows many options for routing. I will be using it on repairing musical instruments.

I work on guitars, and sometimes routers are just too heavy duty for the job. This attachment works fantastic for extremely sturdy, and precise routing jobs, when working with all types of wood, given the surface area is flat/or relatively flat. My one gripe would be that for deeper routing jobs, I had to remove the springs, to allow the dremel to plunge deeper, but aside from that, All is good.

So far, this thing has seen a LOT of use. It is great for trim, routing frames for pictures or stained glass, or for light stencils or engraving. I use a set of tiny bits i bought on ebay. It is so much easier to use than a full size or even a hand router. But one, you won't be disappointed.
