Converter runs too HOT. I had it turned on in a 230v power socket, WITHOUT any appliance plugged into the 110v outlet and the converter became too hot to hold in the hand comfortably. I found gets even hotter if you plug even very light current devices into it to use. Make sure it NEVER gets covered by material (ie curtains, drapes, furniture) when switched on, as I think it could be a FIRE hazard.

I bought this particular model because the USA plug on my appliance (portable speaker) has an earth pin & from the illustration shown on ebay, this model appears to have a hole for the earth pin to sit in. The item supplied does NOT have a hole for the earth pin to sit in, therefore to be able to use a three pin USA plug with this, you have to either remove the earth pin from your USA plug, or (as I did) remove the transformer casing & drill a hole in it where the earth pin would sit. It now works fine and the portable speaker is fully up and running - just be aware if your USA plug has three pins, this won't work without some modification.

This is 45w people, VA does not mean 45amp, this is why it's getting too hot, you're probably trying to power something that is like 600watt off the thing.
