It is important that DIY and hardware stores remain open to some degree during this crisis as they stock essential items that may be needed to keep homes and businesses safe, heated and with power during the current crisis.
However there have been widespread closures of stores today (March 24th) while those retailers get to grips with what this means for them and how they can continue to serve the public in a way to minimise risk for both their customers and staff. Both Wickes and B&Q have closed stores today for 24 hours while they clarify the way forward.
Stores are likely to be reducing the products available to purchase covering only the essentials items during this unprecedented event. Screwfix meanwhile are accepting Click & Collect and home delivery orders only at this time. Click and collect orders will be limited for essential purchases only and home delivery will continue as normal but according to Screwfix may be subject to delays and limited ranges in the coming weeks.
So far only Screwfix have confirmed opening times, these will be for Click and Collect only and are 8am - 4pm Monday to Saturday and 9am - 4pm on Sunday. They state that you should not travel to the store until you receive a text message letting you know your order is ready, and when you do visit you must respect the strict social distancing measures that they have in place.
