just watched the Rememberence Service, very emotional and respesctful.
i cannot believe some would wish this ceremony to be scaled down now, we must never forget or allow future generations to forget the ultimate price paid by so many and their families for the rest of us.
wear your poppy with pride

I agree Kirk.

However, it'll not be long before some do-gooder somewhere deems it offensive to some minority group somewhere

I have it on at the moment and feel it is very important to teach the kids about the sacrifices made in the past. :(

my 2 boys were out in the garden playing at soldiers so i shouted them in to see the parade and they stood for the 2 minute silence with me, made me feel very proud, they know some things about the wars but not much so i tried to explain as best i could, it is their generation that will need to carry on the rememberence so it is important they understand it

How very true.

Roughcaster.

didn't see it as was out and about. but it was still interesting to see how others react.

we were held up by the marchers on their way to the ceremony in Botley Hants which was fine and it was nice to just chill out for a few minutes. but it was unbelievable the amount of cars that U - turned and sped off to avoid the delay.
it was so funny to see all of them then stuck trying to get out back onto the main road
so in their haste they delayed themselves even more - disrespectful W*****rs!

I took my 4 year old out yesterday and we had a little chat about today. At 6.30 am she came into our room explaining what I had told her the day before.

I was surprised, but she had loads of questions. Whilst she is too young to undersand, she stood up for the 2 min silence. I have no idea what goes through the head of a 4 year old, but in a very basic way, she sensed it was important.

Paul.

I taught my 2 children and now I explain to my 2 elder grand children about what has gone on in the past and why we do this each year. I also explained that it is not just to remember all those killed in the 2 WW's but to also remember and honour those that have died or been injured through fighting in other wars also.
I am pleased to say that during a phone call with my daughter this morning she said, rather abruptly I thought at the time, "Got to go Dad I'll ring you back in 5 minutes."
5 minutes later, after the silence, she called me back and explained she had cut me short because her watch was a minute fast and she had to observe the silence.

I noticed Brown and Bliar were looking very sheepish during the service.

What a naive observation, our political scum could'nt give a flying f*** about our brave troups, or anybody else.

Your comment implies they have morals and a sense of right and wrong, they do not. They could'nt give a f*** about you, me or anything else. They are a bunch of self serving gutter snivelling see u next tuesdays, and thats puttting it mildy.

My dear Holmsy,
are you inferring that you have no respect for our esteemed past/present leaders?

seems younger generations have'nt been told.

after the battles, there wasnt even a blade of grass left standing.

yet next year, poppies started to emerge, they were taken as representative, of all those souls wasted.
