Channel migrants face lifetime ban on returning to UK

No, can you explain why young men can't be refugees?

Why would they leave their loved ones.?
Why would we want someone who would leave the most vulnerable people in their lives

Sinkin ship and all that

Obvious I'd have thought - they come shom a s hole with not prospects for anything. Get here, try to get some job from a mate, and once they have (can't remember how many weeks it is, but not long) on ther record they can bring their family over.

There was a documentary. Fellah (from somethingstan?) wanted to live in East End of London, but they found him a place to live with his 5 kids in a place called Burrr Meeeeng Haaaam, which he'd never heard of. Very very happy and hard working iirc.

When he first came over he'd signed on unemployed, which counts as an employment record. He went back when he ran out of money. Then returned with the kids and pitched up at soc servs.. Stayed with a vicar for a night. Anyone remember it?

Good luck to them, though too many would be a problem. I Couldn't BA to trek across Europe and more.

Let's assume they have come from a war round country of a a land of famine. Why would they leave them in such dangerous surroundings

That's assuming so much. That they want to come, that there is anyone else, that they won't join them later. That they aren't running from their families.

Also in terms of gender balance you're assuming that an equal number didn't set out. A more depressing take is that unaccompanied females get trafficked instead.

Which is a shame as we've announced that we won't be helping any women who've been trafficked into slavery anymore unless they're British or have a Visa.

There's talk of housing asylum seekers in 'disused ferries'...

Would these be the same ferries that didn't exist during the start of the ongoing brexit crisis, but millions were wasted on them anyway?

It's all a 'money go round' scam for the tory spivs !

And illegal of course, but then the tories will use any excuse to trash everyone's human rights!

I think it would be to expensive to convert a ferry. But there are plenty of cruise ships that are on the brink of being sold for scrap that could easily be put to work. A mid 90s cruise ship could hold 5-8000 people and be bought for <£30M. We could even raft them up and anchor them in the mid-Varne bank

I think they tend to be in refugee camps.

but they are mostly single men who come as they don’t have the heart rending decision to leave their wives / children.

nobody leaves their country and their relatives for the fun of it.

I didn’t realise it was just migrants that visited brothels.

They'd probably have to fight off the MP's....

Their antics abroad are widely reported, so one can only imagine what they get up to in blighty!

"MPs and peers on parliamentary trips abroad have 'asked for directions to the nearest brothel', hired sex workers and failed to attend meetings after drinking heavily, it has been revealed"

"One former Tory MP, who is now a member of the House of Lords, asked hosts for directions to the nearest brothel when on an APPG visit to southeast Asia, a fellow parliamentarian told the website"

"Another Conservative MP and former minister was claimed to have 'routinely stayed on' at the end of APPG trips and 'linked up with young women'."

"A senior Labour MP is alleged to have shown a liking for 'Russian girls', while a former Tory MP is said to have hired a sex worker on a visit to China."

Migrants on ferries / barges will never happen, same as migrants being sent to Rwanda will never happen. Why anyone takes notice of Government announcements any more is beyond me.

Meanwhile, in the real world, we all know the type of place that migrants go to and the type of stuff that they get up to.

Ukrainian refugees are already enjoying the comforts of a ferry on the Clyde, in Glasgow. I suppose a few more on the south coast could be maintained, although Al Murray isn't happy about them being housed on WWII RAF bases, like Scranton.
If it's cheaper than £6m a day in hotels, why not?

And yet, here they be: what to do?
It's obvious the government need to speed up the application process to ease the burden on holding people for too long - whether to send them back or find accomodation. The recent accord with French Border Police might help to break up the gangs trafficking people across the Channel which would be a big help but the first thing needed is to keep migrants/refugees in one place to prevent them running about, yes?

Most of us don't want them here at all, that's why not.
Funnily enough the list of places that don't want brits is growing...

And who can blame them!

"Amsterdam has warned rowdy British sex and drug tourists to "stay away".

A digital discouragement campaign targeting men aged 18 to 35 in the UK is being pushed out by the Dutch city's council."

"For years people have complained of drunken Brits urinating in public, throwing up in canals, stripping off and engaging in drunken brawls."
