Re-Wire

Do you have to install extractor fans in bathrooms/shower rooms and WCs as part of a re-wire. Mains supplied Smoke alarms are required with battery back up arent they?

Certainly advisory, think they are more to do with building regs than wiring regs.

So would you have to install them in the eyes of someone like NICEIC or Napit when doing a re-wire? Would it be expected???

AFAIK only when there is no window in the bathroom.

Have a look in your big red book, and find where it says you must fit extractor fans, or smoke alarms for that matter.
