I have seen replacement cartridges for sale for both types of Diverter valves (with and without by-pass). How do I tell whether I have a by pass fitted or not?

Thank you Dan. I've been poking around myself this afternoon and have probably come to the same conclusion. I can feel the diverter valve motor running when I switch between hot water only and hot water + heating and the motor plunger moves up and down, so it's probably the bit the plunger...
