....maybe a terminology thing. Temperature sensor, looked very like a thermocouple. That was boiler engineer fitted to fix the boiler cutting out over temp (I think, was a while ago).

Perfect timing......I have a leaking pin gland (the one which faces out from the boiler, which unless I'm barking is the DHW). So, can I just replace the gland or does the whole lot need changing. This appears to be the gland: http://www.abcotuk.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductId=P599&Catid=c2...
