    Hot water tank overflows

Thanks for your reply again. I have established that the excess water overflow is actually blowing up through the feed pipe. I established this by simply re opening the stop valve. A blow of water (about !/2 litre) entered the small tank through the feed pipe and not the vent pipe as I had...

    Hot water tank overflows

Hello Slugbabydotcom, My plumber took a serious look at the design of the system and tried a test that has worked. He shut off the valve out of the small tank to stop water topping up the radiators. I have not seen any overflow through the expansion tank since this was tried. Now he plans to...

    Hot water tank overflows

The system is 5 years old and this has been hapenning for the last 3 years but seems to be getting worse lately. The water level is right up to the level of the overflow outlet in the tank. I have tried lowering the water level in the tank but that did not seem to help.

    Expansion tank overflows

This morning I reduced the boiler stat from 68 to 60. I turned on the heating system from cold startup and within about 10 seconds the overflow expansion tank again pushed out about a litre of cold water. The water flows for a few minutes and then eases off. Hope this helps. By the way I...

    Expansion tank overflows

Thats right fireman22, it is pumping over into the expansion tank in the attic. It is at its worst if I have the upstairs radiators turned off using the themperature dial on the wall. I have hard water, do you think that a build up of limescale might be contributing to the problem. :?:

    Expansion tank overflows

Hi, can anyone give me possible reasons for the h/w expansion tank overflowing particularly from cold start up. I have tried the following. 1) Lowered the boiler circulating pump pressure 2) Lowered the hot water cylinder circulating pump pressure 3) Extended the overflow pipe to be about 2.5...

Hi, I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me with this problem. The hot water expansion tank throws out a lot of water particularly when I start up the heating system. There are 2 circulating pumps one at the boiler geound level and one at first floor level. I have tried reducing the...
