Intruder Alarm with 4 core wiring and Advantage ZX6

Atilla, read my posts properly before replying. Your comments about part P are wrong. DIY users are not regulated or inspected......unlike professional alarm installers. Anyway.....this is a DIY forum!!!!!!!!!

Intruder Alarm with 4 core wiring and Advantage ZX6

Professional alarm companies have to comply with BSEN regulations & normally installers use 6 core for the bell box................I said probably............................! As far as my comment about using whatever cable you want i am right. There are no regulations that prevent a DIY...

    Alarming newspaper headings?

Is this what we want....? An un elected governing body (EU) making the rules up as they go along. In 1973 UK voted to join the common market, why has it evolved to a runway train? Time to get out!!!!!!!!!

help -- loose/wobly UPVC door handle

It looks like a failed lock. You need a replacement. I do not think that this type can be purchased from B&Q or Wickes. If you cannot find an exact replacement then you realy should call a locksmith in because it could go pear shaped & cost more in the long run.

    ADE Optima Compact

The panel needs re setting and reprograming. Best get an alarm engineer to do this & as it a rented property it is up to the landlord to sort out & pay for.

What is the best way to put together an estimate?

If its a large job you might want to consider "stage payments" This will reduce any loss you may have due to non payment & it will help your cash flow.

Intruder Alarm with 4 core wiring and Advantage ZX6

You can use 4 core cable ok. If you were a company that is inspected so that you comply with current standards you would probably require a re wire. But as it seems you are a DIY customer you can use whatever cable you want for the 12v DC part. As far as the 230V AC you are prohibited...

    Scantronic 9448+

Excellent advice............stick with the wired over the wire free. The only wire free to consider is the stuff from Scantronic.......ion16!

Probably best to get an alarm engineer in, especially as you are going on holiday soon. You don't want to ruin your holiday.

    Alarm Bell Box Repacement

hsmith824 your post probably wont help as the origional post was for something better than a 'puny115 db' bell box and your link was for an even punier 109 db Texecom 1E. Louder bell boxes are available, but at a price premium.

    Scantronic 9448+

I cannot give you an exact price for testing & repairs, however, the last time i repaired a 9448 it cost £150.00 for a replacement bell box, panel battery, reprograming & commissioning. You can deduct the price of the battery but expect to pay around £100.00 to £125.00. Try to get a...

    Alarm Bell Box Repacement

If you contact a local alarm installer and ask to buy a replacement bell box i am shure they would oblige. Elmdene do a 118db sounder which is loud & piercing (ear defenders required) You should be able to buy it for around £50.00

Locked in (faulty UPVC door mechanism) !

You need to call a locksmith in. Locksmiths get this type of call often & it is easy for professionals to sort out with the correct tools. You need a replacement gearbox at least.

    Scantronic 9448+

If you open up the alarm controll box (recommend disconecting mains 230v before opening) you will find the zone wiring terminals marked 1-2-3. you will note that each has two terminals to each zone. If you disconnect the pair to zone 3 and replace it with a wire loop you will clear the fautt...
