I'm currently putting in an upstairs en suite shower room with sink. The run to the soil downpipe is about 35 feet away. The pipe will be under
the floorboards. Is this possible as it wont have much of a drop over that distance.

Thanks for all the advice - If I used an Air Admittance Valve, does it need to be a certain height above the upstairs toilet or could I put it about a foot above the soil pipe?
Well, just bought a 68 mm pipe and 2 offset adaptors 110mm to 68mm from wickes for a tenner. The offset adaptors are ideal to put the pipe nearer the wall allowing a much smaller box.
So I'll give it a go

Apart from the odours, what is the vent pipe for?

My existing soil vent pipe is 110mm pipe and is boxed in. I have a very small upstairs toilet and want to reduce the size of the pipe. Can I do this to say 50mm or so?
