    Baxi 105HE Diverter pin explanation

The boiler has long been prone to Error 60 especially when the shower is on. Though after the shower has been on a while it seems to be ok. When the CH went on a month or so back Error 60s' were coming up at least once, and maybe twice, in 24hrs. An Off/On generally got rid of the error for a...

    Baxi 105HE Diverter pin explanation

So when the boiler is doing nothing, no pump, no burners, the CH pin should be fully retracted? When timer comes on the pump starts, there is flow through the diverter, pin extends, hits microswitch and burners fire up. When temp is reached, burners turn off, pump continues for a while...

    Baxi 105HE Diverter pin explanation

I'm trying to confirm the sequence of the operation so that I can better come back and explain the problems I'm facing. The DHW Pin (the one at the front) comes straight out when the hot water tap is switched on, and retracts when turned off. What is the microswitch it hits actually doing...

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

State of Play: The top pin has been taken out and is clean and free moving. The diaphragm and spring moves freely when pressed by finger. The hole below the diaphragm lets water out freely. The top pin stays stuck in the up position when operating even though it is clear of the...

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

And indeed it does - as soon as the pump stops the top pin retracts sufficiently to release the microswitch as I explained earlier.

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

I understand your words - I don't understand your reasoning. Why does the pin need to retract at all whilst the CH pump is on? I'm not arguing but things that I'm asked to do have to make sense to me otherwise I'm not understanding what's going on and you're not here to see what's going on...

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

@gas112 - there are two pins. The one on top, when everything off, is extended but just short of the microswitch. When the boiler is turned on it extends more and activates the microswitch. When the boiler is turned off it returns to its rest position after a couple of minutes when the pump...

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

This is a brand new diverter valve fitted this August. It seems to be working in as much as hot water comes out when expected and radiators work when expected. Why would a pin be sticking and why would that cause the boiler to cut out every 12 - 24hrs?

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

Oh - it's on 2.4 Bar at the moment which the manual says is within spec but the manual doesn't say what pressure change is acceptable from cold to hot. What would you expect for a proper functioning expansion vessel?

Baxi 105HE cutting out every 12-24hrs

About once or twice a day the boiler cuts out with the 60deg light flashing. I can also force this by turning the boiler to Off and then immediately back on again. If I wait 30 mins in either case the boiler will fire up and operate as normal including hot water and showers. When I force a...

    Help with purlin calculations

The sag is slight, though noticeable now I know about it, but longstanding so I guess the timber has acquired a new shape that probably is best not interfered with so I'll opt for simply strengthening and supporting without inducing new stresses. Thanks.

    Help with purlin calculations

I have received two opinions on strengthening and supporting the purlin. Whilst both are similar one builder does not want to straighten the existing bow out, whilst the other says it shouldn't be a problem. Whilst I would have preferred to have the roof flat again I can understand the...

    Help with purlin calculations

I've scanned and uploaded the calcs for the roof which I hope I have correctly attached to this post and that helps make more sense.

    Help with purlin calculations

Thanks for your replies and I'll work through them in more detail but not till at least tomorrow afternoon. I might try and get some scans uploaded so that the workings can be seen. Some photos are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/79018230@N05/albums/72157657651956135 - the block support down...

    Help with purlin calculations

I have a single 180x50mm purlin either side of my concrete tiled roof (battens & rafters). The purlin is about half way down the roof and the plan view of the roof is around 3.4m from the ridge line to the eaves. Supports for the purlins are around every 2m except some previous owner though it...
