    Bubbling laminate flooring

Hi all, I have laid some laminate flooring in the kitchen (the floating, interlocking kind) on insulation and a dpm - all bought from B&Q. In the last couple of weeks, some of the joins have been bubbling and it looks like it's getting worse. My first thought was water getting under the floor...

    Kitchen extract through flat roof

Does anyone have a suggestion for a product to use to go through a flat roof for a kitchen extract fan? It is a traditional felt roof.

    Fitting an undermount sink

Think I'm just overthinking this but I can't get my head around how to fit my undermount sink. It's a new kitchen so no worktop on yet. I am planning to cut into the top beam of the carcase to accept the sink and then fit a baton to support the lips around the sink. The sink will then rest on...

RCBO terminal doesn’t align with others

Something along the lines of the incoming live and neutral going in the correct terminals if memory serves

RCBO terminal doesn’t align with others

On the chint site they state that the breakers are suitable for single and three phase boards. The breaker has a model no. on it that is current on the site too so looks like it’s simply an old part. Hopefully I can change it as a bought it back in August...

RCBO terminal doesn’t align with others

All the others line up with the 6A. It does look like they’re from different ranges. The image on the screwfix site for the 45A looks like the 6A one too so maybe screwfix were trying to lose old stock...

RCBO terminal doesn’t align with others

I have a handful of RCBOs in a range of sizes from 6A to 45A which I’m fitting into a consumer. The terminals on all but one (the 45A) line up exactly with each other and the main breaker but the other is around 5mm out of line. Is this normal and how would this be overcome? All breakers and...

How to permanently dim lights but retain only on / off switching

No, just to make things more fun, I had to get the thinnest fittings I could find to fit beneath the ceiling joists and these were the only ones that would hit the lux levels required (I rounded up...). Just put the floor in and now they’re not too bright so might be leaving as is which is a result.

How to permanently dim lights but retain only on / off switching

For anyone interested, I found this relay online which works with Philips Hue (which I have elsewhere in the house) so it should suit my need, although I've not bought it yet...

How to permanently dim lights but retain only on / off switching

Well it would do the job, but it would look naff I fear. I'll have dedicated task lighting for the worktops, it's just the overall ambient lighting that is going to be too bright so can't see needing to change the brightness often if ever. I only want to lop off a few lumen to have it at say 80%...

How to permanently dim lights but retain only on / off switching

I did yes but the switch I have in is three gang but only single gang size faceplate a la shorturl.at/cdgY7. I can't open it up to a two gang backbox due to space restrictions and can't get a three gang dimmer on a single gang plate.

How to permanently dim lights but retain only on / off switching

I'm looking to dim my kitchen downlights wholesale (integrated LEDs), but keep the control on / off, i.e. not have a dimmer switch on the wall. Is there a product out there which will do this? I've had a look but I might be searching for the wrong terminology. I've checked and the downlights...

    Has anyone used better kitchens?

I can’t find much feedback on them but their prices seem very competitive. I’m looking for a “true handleless” design if anyone has any similar recommendations.

Did you go with better kitchens in the end? I’m trying to get some feedback on their quality.

Can you site isolating switches for kitchen appliances in a local cupboard?

Thanks for the input so far all. Perhaps I should have been clearer: I know that this isn't a statutory requirement under the BS, but I'd like to have some sort of isolation - even if just for the oven, microwave and hob for my peace of mind as much as anything. I'll check through the...
