    Which tool would you recommend?

Look on ebay for basin wrench - you will get both types for the same as one from a DIY shop. My favourite is a Monument Basin Wrench

    Help with toilet waste pipe

Are you sure it's leaking at the pan/waste connection? If it is then it sounds like the spigot isn't the right size for the pan connector (unlikely) or you have a mis alignment. I think more detail or a photo might help. You shouldnt need any other sealant on this joint

    Best electric / power shower

I'd always go for Mira - not cheap but excellent service backup

New thermostatic shower - only warm with low flow

Someone mentioned it before but is there a service valve anywhere. If there is check the type - if its the type you need a screwdriver to operate it will be restricting the flow significantly. Get a full bore one.

    Size matters?

Unfortunately the pipework goes directly into some boxing so it's not possible to add a second stopcock. Refurbish it is I think!

    Size matters?

Thanks for the replies, its not Alkathene just normal copper with a soft black plastic outer probably to protect it as it runs through concrete, I thought about filing it but its risky as ther eis little room for errors. I'll probably refurbish the old stopcock. John

    Size matters?

I've come across a mains supply pipe which is copper with a black plastic sleeve. The question is that the copper excluding the sleeve has an OD of around 15.6mm - too large for a compression fitting stop cock (the existing stopcock is knackered and I only have an inch or so of the copper to...

Ball park figure for bathroom fitting cost

How long is that piece of string? Depends on amount of tiling, where is WC going etc. Anything from £1500 to £4000 could be justified... Get three quotes and go with the one who spends the most time asking questions/understanding what you want/provides the most thought through quote. Please...

    Black Plastic Pipe c1970

Thanks again to everyone who advised. The OD is 17.1mm so it looks like 3/8ths it is. Just got to source the adaptors and I'll be happy!

    Black Plastic Pipe c1970

Gasman - do you mean standard 15mm compression fittings? Thanks to all for the advice - much appreciated. When I get to the bottom of this I'll share it with you. I don't think its Polyetheline either its too hard like PVC solvent Weld. Just black and a pain in the Bum!

    Very low hot water pressue

Does the quote include materials? If it does it seems reasonable even if its a straightforward installation.
