thanks Gim74, just nipped home on lunch break to have another look, I removed the old panel cover and it did not activate the alarm but when I partly disconnected the siren it went off, I quickly reconnected and it stopped so I will try and connect it up later and ill tell you what happens!
maybe but the alarm has been maintained annually last being 2014, from the notes left batteries have been changed but they don't make reference to if they were the control panel or the siren? have you heard of connecting the battery pack inside the control panel directly to the black and red...
Please could you help me.
I am removing an old wired alarm panel (picture below) and installing a modern GSM wireless alarm (MiGuard G5 which I have already bought) but I intent to use the existing siren on the outside of the house due to it being out of reach of my tallest ladders and to...
After reading into it a little further it looks like screw junction blocks have to be accessible for future maintenance and inspection as they may become loose, I am therefore buying a decent crimping tool with insulated connectors, staggering them and heat shrinking to finish the job...
I think you're on the wrong forum, as the name suggests this is for diyers... My house is only 20 years old, has a modern fuse box with RCD and for the record I will be getting my handy work checked by a sparky before plastering over...
.
If I didn't know I was capable of handling this I wouldn't have started I'm really on here to make sure I do a decent job. (far better than just thinking I know everything and just sticking cables anywhere) so far with the help from this forum I'm running the cables in the correct horizontal and...
I have now installed 6mm2 makes sense to follow it through... I have another question though is it ok to connect cables together using blocks and just wrap in proper tape or do they have to be in a plastic box?
I have removed a wall and have several wires that require 'capping', can I simply attach the wires into separate junction boxes to isolate them and fix to the joists?
The cables will be buried and at the fuse box I'm pretty certain they are on a RCD circuit. I was thinking of covering the cables in the wall in some plastic cover which they are currently covered by, is this ok?
