    Hotel Bedroom lamps

thanks. I have some round pins as you say in the lighting circuit for table lamps which is fine for a living room. If I ever try this I would have to use something like a bulgin SA2368 though it is perhaps not up to the modern obsession with shrouding. I wonder if there is a miniature 3 phase...

Why is the cooker suddenly tripping the RCD?

It might be there is a temperature related fault in the oven turning it off rather that the thermostat. Was it fully hot and showing the fsult as the electrician tested it? It could be something moving under heat. When it doesn't come back on as expected is there something like a power lamp or...

    Hotel Bedroom lamps

Hotel bedrooms these days often seem to have the bedside lamp wired with a switch at the door and another on the wall which fail to work as proper two ways. On the second night you come in and find the door switch doesn't work because it is off at the bed. Is this incompetant wiring or builders...

    Confusing wiring on two-way switch?

Bear with me as I will take it in stages as I try to think it through. Look at the wiki as posted above at 8.30 on Sunday. No I don't think you have the cable saving circuit, stay at the top of the page. The first circuit is not what you've got but it shows the live coming into one switch and...

    Electric heaters question..

Could it be the location of the heater within the room is not letting it get an acurate feel for air temp. eg close to cold wall, draughts from window etc. try moving it first.

    Cooker switch position

Thanks, seems like it needs to move. I don't think I can afford enough electricity to actually get it that hot though having just had my latest bill.

    Cooker switch position

I am wondering about moving my freestanding cooker 1 foot sideways but that would put it under its switch. Is the positioning 'not above' mandatory in some regulation or merely advisory? Safe access is not an issue as there is a large gap (doorway) beside the oven though corrosion due to...

45 amp dp switch with neon light for cooker

Forums are like a bunch of mates down the pub aren't they. Some guys are having a bad day, another may always be grumpy, but mostly they are not really trying to be mean it's just the workds come out wrong sometimes. Now, do I dare start my own thread on a cooker point question?

Can't get access to loft to insulate bathroom

How about a length of say 3 in downpipe which you direct to the target, assuming the roof ceiling is standard compartments formed by rafters and noggins. Then bow loose lay insulation down the pipe.

    Asphalt box gutter

It looks like the leaking gutter was repaired by just floating a new layer on top, which a few years of sunshine has softened and relieved stresses, unless something is rotting underneath. I wouldn't go for an easyseal. Get the Wickes big cans of black gloop and traditional felt or a reinforced...

    INTERNAL MAINS SUPPLY PIPE:

Lead was always put on bath connections in the old days because the weight of the bathfull of water would cause movement and risk cracking a joint or even the pipe.

hot water coming out cold water taps

It is also possible, if the thermostat has been wired on the wrong side of the element and the element sheath corodes then the circuit is made through the water. Happened to me. Hot fibreglass tanks do pong.
