Cassius - I'll check I haven't swapped the pipes around when fitting the new pump!

yes, pump set for to pipe operation with the small machine screw fixed in the inlet port. John, do you still think it's an ignition problem given the lack of fuel in the tigerloop?

    oil burner lockout

Thanks for the replies. A further development today; I can't see any fuel in the tigerloop. I'm thinking a blockage or poor suction.

    oil burner lockout

Sometimes it actually ignites and runs for a few seconds and then locks out. After a short wait I reset and sometimes it tries to fire - with a spark I've looked down the chamber via the plastic viewing plate - and other times it doesn't attempt to fire. If I leave it for a while - an hour or...

    oil burner lockout

installation was checked I assume - I wasn't here to see for myself. It all worked fine as I said in the original post for the first 6-8weeks. I've replaced the oil pump today and still no joy in fact it's worse! It goes to lockout as soon as it ignites. Photocell clean but not replaced...

    oil burner lockout

As I said, building control are regular visitors to the site of my extension and the tank is part of the plans so if I need a certificate no doubt they will bring one with them next time they call. Any further ideas on why my burner keeps locking out?

    oil burner lockout

Thanks gasandoilman. I'm favouring the contaminated fuel possibility given that the lockout occurs randomly i.e can be both before and after firing - does this make sense? I also think it's sound advice to get a service as it has been over 2 years since the last one!

Thanks for that. Solenoid has cropped up in other suggestions too. How can I check the pressure?

    oil burner lockout

Thanks for the reply. Don't need a certificate. I'm also overun with building control too as the underground tank was part of an extension I'm having built. I've cleaned the photcell...

    oil burner lockout

Hi I'm experiencing lockout problems which on the face of it seem quite random. My burner is a very old Selectos D42/A and the control box an equally ancient Danfoss 57H3. It seems random because sometimes it goes to lockout before firing and sometimes after firing; and when I say after...
