My response never got changed in the end. They 'found' the required part for it and repaired it after deciding that they were unable to install the Isar in the attic - where the Response is. Its still not great but at least its working! Good luck with yours.

Well, I have just found out that a replacement boiler has been authorized free of charge and will be Ideal Isar HE 35. Unfortunately by the look of the reviews on some sites that I have just had a quick scan through, I could be getting to know the engineer very well over the coming years...
Thanks guys for this - a pretty damning verdict there! I will wait to see on Monday what they suggest / offer but I cant really see Ideal offering me another manufactures boiler as a replacement of their own? I guess I can only learn from this and make sure I avoid Ideal in future homes!

This makes sense because watching my boiler when the shower is on and it continually turns itself off and on as the shower changes temperature. as pointed out in another thread, I will soon be saying goodbye to the current boiler so hopefully this problem should clear when the new one is in place.
