Thanks! Do those wooden packers need removing or can they just stay there and be used to fix the trim to?

I've a set of doors recently installed, and to get the right threshold internally they were raised up by 35mm on packers. now there's a gap beteween the sill and bricks. Any ideas on best way to fill this? sand & cement, or expanding foam and mastic, or just some grey trim? Thanks

Hi - I've opened up an old fireplace which will not be used for any fire, just something decorative. Assuming its OK to just plasterboard the sides and back of the fireplace, what should be done with the chimney opening? Leave it and put a chimney balloon up there, or board it with a vent? Or is...
