A bit more info: the valve has a brass tap type top and is fitted in a 1930's house.

My mains water valve lets water by when shut off and also rattles under certain conditions. I don't want to change the the whole thing as it has a lead pipe connection to both sides so are just the internal parts replaceable?

I don't think any water is even reaching it. Could the pump be to weak to push the water up?

I have a built in bosch dishwasher and the top spray arm has stopped spinning and therefore does not wash anything on the top shelf. I have checked and all the holes are unblocked and the pipe work up to it seems clear. Can anyone suggest a possible cause and remedy?

I have a tarmac garage floor that gets very dusty and so I am thinking of painting it but have been told I cannot use just any old paint as it will react with the tarmac. Its not really a high traffic area and there will be no cars parked in there as its too narrow so what paint can I use ...

The feed to the shower runs up and over then back down to the shower. Does it need to be vented at the top ?

I have just won a complete replacement shower on ebay so will give that a go when it arrives. Hopefully that will solve the problem. None of this was a problem until the pump died and I replaced it :roll:

I have tried the vent test and there is no suction down through the vent pipe at all.
