small 2 bed terraced house + small kitchen downstairs and bathroom upstairs. Lots of lovely water pressure so think I will enquire about a combi.
Massive thanks to those who helped me with this.
:D
What would you do, replace it with like for like or get something else?
What about junking the hot water tank and the boiler and getting a new combi boiler? The boiler I have now went in with the house in '94 and it's an Ideal Elan 2 NF230. I believe it's a non-condensing boiler as it has a...
Ok, so I'm looking at a new cylinder. Would you recommend getting another thermal one or something else? Suppose I need to get a plumber in to take a look.
What, take the ball valve out? As in the plastic float in that tank?
Yeah water filthy. It's ok when it's settled but when disturbed it's very dirty. Right at the bottom there's slimy stuff on the sides of the tank.
Sorry, yeah that's the thing. When I originally drained the copper tank and fitted a new rubber washer / diaphragm and a new float valve I watched the tank fill up and stop at the correct level. I honestly thought I'd cracked it when I watched the water stop coming in. Morning after the tank...

Not sure why there's two pumps. That confused my Dad too!!
Go on, then give it to me, what am I looking...
There are a couple of lugs on the top of the tank that fix it to the wall but yeah it could be more secure i think...
ball valve is the copper tank inlet that is connected to the float valve inside the tank.
Not sure if it's sealed? There is no other tank anywhere in the house and there is just the one ball valve in the copper header tank.
We did put a new mixer tap in the kitchen (ground floor) last summer but it's been fine for months - only just started overflowing.
 I know. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it should be tidier than that. It does work, most of the time anyway!!! :D House was built in '94 and believe all the plumbing is original.
Apologies but I don't know the difference!! Is the header tank the big insulated cylinder thing in the airing cupboard?!! All I know is that the only header / expansion tank I have is just above the hot water tank in the airing cupboard. No tanks in the loft or anywhere else.
Not...
